The areas of the former Pankow marshalling yard are to be transformed into an urban quarter. A master plan for the new Pankower Tor is to be developed by means of a multi-stage workshop process. In addition t urban density the focus is on public open space and an overall ecological concept. Six planning teams were invited to participate in the process. One of them is the team from Nöfer Architekten. They are developing their vision together with Christoph Kohl Stadtplaner Architekten, VERKEHR+STADT, Buro Happold and FUGMANN JANOTTA PARTNER.
From 10 to 23 February, the interested public can examine and comment on the current planning status of all six drafts on the german project page. On 22 February, there will also be a digital citizens’ forum where the teams can exchange ideas directly with the public. After the comments from the public and the feedback from the jury in mid-March, the teams will finalise their designs. From May 2021 onwards, the experts will review the proposals before the jurors give their final assessment of the work. The results of the new Pankower Tor will be presented to the public in mid-June.
