The area around Feldmoching is currently being analysed to determine whether and to what extent the city can be expanded to make it more liveable. The Münchner Norden (“north of Munich”) offers potential that is to be examined in more detail on the basis of a feasibility study as part of the preparatory investigations for a possible urban development measure in accordance with the German Building Code.
The ‘StadtLandWirtschaft Feldmoching’ vision of our planning team ArgeEcho for Münchner Norden shows a possible new history of the Feldmoching fields. The Feldmoching cultural landscape provides the framework and traffic forms the backbone for future structural development. The landscape will continue to be given the space it needs to fulfil its potential; problems will be solved within the framework of settlement development. The rough transport concept for the north of Munich was developed iteratively in conjunction with the other levels of investigation for urban development and open space planning. The existing settlement identities determine the scale and character of the new neighbourhoods appropriate to the specific situation of Feldmoching’s urban-rural economy. Projects such as the Feldmochinger Gartenhöfe, the Schrederwiesen, the Welcome City Ludwigsfeld, the Parkstadt Feldmoching Nord and the Polder City Fasanerie are being developed on the previously defined potential areas. Identified deficits in infrastructure provision are being remedied – creating social centres, new school and daycare facilities, local amenities and multimodal mobility stations.
Looking at the various development options for the area opened up an attitude towards the potential development space in the Münchner Norden and initiated a constructive discussion about the plans.The results of the ideas workshop will be further elaborated and deepened in a further procedural step in summer 2025.
