Wuhlheide Northern Entrance, Berlin

Client: Bezirksamt Treptow-Köpenick von Berlin
Activity: LP 1-9
Period: 2018-2022
Dimension: 4.440 m²
Location: Berlin-Oberschöneweide

The redesign of Wuhlheide’s northern entrance aims to create a welcoming and safe meeting point. It serves as both a place to stay and pass through. The existing paths have been renovated and partially widened. The park railway crossings now feature a new layout with fewer crossing points. This improves safety significantly for all visitors throughout the year. A clear color system highlights potential danger spots. This increases visitor awareness in these areas.

The central, elongated plaza features robust seating and leaning furniture in various designs. Modern materials ensure long-term durability in all weather conditions. The Wuhlheide logo will mark this spot in the future. The entrance’s appeal has improved by moving fences behind a green space with trees. New shrubs enhance this area. A new ramp at Rudolph-Rühl-Allee provides barrier-free access. It connects the S-Bahn station to the park and FEZ Berlin.

New continuous lighting ensures better safety feelings during twilight and darkness. Energy-efficient technology reduces operating costs while providing optimal illumination. Graffiti street art on two walls and bridges serves as memorable landmarks at the northern entrance. The designed surfaces make navigation easier in Wuhlheide’s northern entrance area. They create an emotional connection – especially for children and young people.
