On 27 November 2025, the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new federal headquarters in Rollbergstrasse together with the project partners. Marking the symbolic completion of the shell of the modern timber-hybrid building, the event represents an important milestone following last year’s cornerstone ceremony.

As the landscape architects responsible for the scheme, we at FJP have been accompanying the project throughout its development. The outdoor areas will fully reflect the BUND’s commitment to ecological quality: diverse green spaces, water-sensitive strategies and climate-resilient design will shape the surroundings of the new building designed by SMAQ.

The ceremony provided an opportunity to join the client, represented by BUND Chair Olaf Bandt, in acknowledging the progress made so far and in thanking all trades for their dedicated collaboration. The positive atmosphere on site demonstrated that the building is growing not only in its physical form, but also through a strong spirit of cooperation.

As construction continues, the vision of a lively, sustainable and welcoming place for environmental work in Berlin comes ever closer. We look forward to the building’s completion in the coming year.
