Since autumn 2016, FUGMANN JANOTTA PARTNER has been preparing an open space planning concept for the Westkreuz on behalf of the Environmental and Nature Conservation Agency Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. The concept will be developed together with residents, users, experts, representatives of the city and district administrations and other interested parties at four workshop dates.
The kick-off meeting took place on May 9th 2017 in the premises of the church congregation at Lake Lietzensee.By means of a quick card query participants could express weaknesses and obstacles as well as wishes and expectations for the development of the Westkreuz. Afterwards, the results of the inventory analysis were presented, which provided enough material for an active discussion. Approximately 150 guests took part in the event. The District Council for Urban Development, Construction and Environment, Mr Oliver Schruoffeneger, also answered questions.
On 30 May 2017, part of the Westkreuz area was explored during a site inspection. Afterwards, the results of the card query of the kick-off event were presented and the impressions of the explorative walk were discussed. In this context it was also possible to ask fundamental questions or to express one’s displeasure towards the project. This event was accompanied professionally by two moderators. Despite the mixed weather there were about 100 participants.
The next Workshop will take place at the beginning of July 2017. Further information on the park project can be found here.
