“Energiedreieck Mitteldeutschland” – FJP Supported 50Hertz Information Markets

In January 2026, transmission system operator 50Hertz invited the public to several information markets along the planned route corridor as part of the “Central Germany Energy Triangle” project (Federal Requirements Plan Act – Project 93). The aim was to engage in dialogue with the public and gather input from the region prior to submitting the documentation for federal sectoral planning approval.

At three locations between Bad Lauchstädt, Braunsbedra-Frankleben and Pegau, the project team provided information on the current planning status for replacing the existing 220 kV overhead line with a higher-capacity 380 kV connection between Bad Lauchstädt and Pulgar. The focus was on the proposed corridor, technical aspects of the line and the subsequent approval procedure. The information markets offered space for personal discussions without a fixed programme.

FJP was represented by Peter Simon, Partner and Head of Renewable Energy and Grid Expansion, who supported the technical exchange on site. The events built on earlier dialogue formats conducted as part of the project.

The “Central Germany Energy Triangle” is a grid expansion project anchored in the Federal Requirements Plan Act, aimed at strengthening the transmission network in southern Saxony-Anhalt and neighbouring Saxony. Core elements include the replacement construction of a 380 kV overhead line between the Lauchstädt and Pulgar substations, the dismantling of the existing 220 kV line, and the construction of a new substation in the Leuna/Merseburg/Weißenfels area. Commissioning of the new facilities is scheduled for 2033.
