Expert Review Process for the New Station Quarter, Gransee – Final Presentation & Exhibition

With the public final presentation on 14 February 2026, the Town of Gransee concluded the urban design expert review process for the New Station Quarter. Three interdisciplinary planning teams presented their proposals for the site south of Straße des Friedens. The chief reviewers contextualised the different approaches and made them comparable in terms of density, distribution of uses, open-space structure and mobility.

Our team—SLF (urban design) and FJP (landscape architecture)—developed our contribution, titled “Zu den Binnenhöfen” (“Towards the Inner Courtyards”), from the “Granseer Maßstab”: courtyard structures and garden culture are not merely referenced, but translated into contemporary neighbourhoods—featuring low-car residential courtyards, a clear gradation from private to public, and a continuous green corridor as a “Garden for Gransee”. This corridor channels routes to the station while also retaining water in a climate-effective way.

In the end, the diversity of proposals is the real benefit of the process: rather than a single masterplan, several robust pathways now sit alongside one another, each with its own qualities—creating a broader foundation for the forthcoming local development planning. All three contributions consistently emphasised the role of open space as the structuring framework, short distances, and phased development in which each construction stage remains functional—an eminently practical promise of deliverability over many years.

We are delighted that the results for the Gransee Station Quarter can now also be seen by the public: from late February to late March, the works will be exhibited in the shop windows of the former retail premises at Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße 75. In addition, the space will be open on Saturday, 14 March 2026, 10:00–12:00 and on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, 14:00–16:00. During these times, staff from the local authority administration and the Brandenburg Urban Renewal Company will be available for questions, suggestions and conversation.

If you’re in Gransee, do drop by and discover the exciting proposals!
