The construction phase started in October 2012 and in November 2013 the square was handed over to the public. With the final remaining work completed, the “wooden boxes” in place, and a lush planting scheme now completed, the square was ready for its inauguration on 24 July 2014.
With a large number of interested citizens and representatives from the Finnish Embassy present, the new ambience of the site was debated over genuine Finnish liquorice.
