The Bavarian capital of Munich wants to protect and strengthen the city-wide network of green spaces in the long term. One of the measures to achieve this is the concept of so-called ‘Park miles’. Urban open spaces of different types – parks, sports areas, cemeteries, allotments and agricultural and forestry areas – are considered holistically. The aim is to link the inner-city neighbourhoods with Munich’s green belt. The aim is to promote biodiversity, improve the urban climate and create a variety of recreational and leisure areas.
One of the first planned park miles runs in the south of Munich: from Südpark to Warnberger Riedel. The masterplan drawn up by FUGMANN JANOTTA PARTNER for the Südpark-Warnberger Riedel park mile is intended as an informal landscape framework plan to show possibilities for a coherent and strong overall concept for further open space development. Creative planning recommendations and prioritised steps for subsequent implementation were formulated for a functional and design concept. The masterplan we developed for the Südpark-Warnberger Riedel park mile is hot off the press as a report and has been handed over to the Department of Urban Planning and Building Regulations, Green and Open Space Planning.
More details on the Park Mile Südpark-Warnberger Riedel can be found on our project page and on the website of the City of Munich.
