Workshop Münchner Norden – the Results

Ideenwerkstatt Münchner Norden – das Ergebnis der ArgeEcho

From 18 to 23 November 2024, the ‘Workshop Münchner Norden’ took place at Fat Cat in the former Gasteig. The five interdisciplinary planning teams developed visions for the area between Feldmoching and Ludwigsfeld in the north of the city. Around 1,000 interested citizens took the opportunity to get in touch with the planning teams and also contribute their personal ideas to the design process. Over the five days, open workshops, information markets and exchanges and discussions with experts from practice and science took place about an attractive and sustainable future for the city of Munich. The planning teams worked in lively dialogue with each other and jointly developed their ideas further.

Our ArgeEcho team – UmbauStadt, Hoffmann-Leichter and FJP – developed a concept in which the landscape provides the framework for the future development of the north of Munich. The qualities of the multi-layered open space as a cultural and natural landscape identified in the analysis and dialogue are to play a key role in the future. Factors such as water, species and nature conservation, green connections from the city centre and the built edges offer not only planning challenges, but also many opportunities for ecologically sensitive and attractive urban development.

The wide range of results from the intensive week of the Workshop Münchner Norden are now available online on München MitDenken. The site also offers interesting information on the five teams, interviews, pictures, numerous videos of the events and further background information on the project.
