|DIE Deutsche Immobilien Entwicklungs AG
The development of the BE | U Behrensufer by DIEAG is intended to create a future-proof, liveable and sustainable urban neighbourhood with an international role model character. In order to achieve the high ecological goals of the project, a comprehensive expert opinion on a biodiversity strategy is to be drawn up and implemented. In order to guarantee the particularly high quality standards of the strategy, it will be drawn up in accordance with the requirements of the platinum certificate of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The aim of this biodiversity strategy is to integrate the ecological requirements of selected species into building and open space planning from the outset and to improve them in this way to create a habitat for humans, animals and plants.
Target species were identified in order to concretise the BE | U-biodiversity strategy and derive targeted measures. These are species that are to be the focus of this strategy and whose habitat requirements are decisive for the design of the measures in the neighbourhood. Due to the large number of possible target species for butterflies, wild bees and dragonflies, species were selected that are representative of a specific habitat or habitat spectrum. The measures developed for the selected target species therefore also serve to protect many other species in the respective animal group, although these are not explicitly listed in the strategy.
