Individual Landscape Framework Plans dating from 1996 and 1998 existed for the former districts of Fürstenwalde, Beeskow and Eisenhüttenstadt. With the consolidation of these plans into a single planning document, a unified Landscape Framework Plan for the Oder-Spree District has now been prepared. Relevant developments of recent years, such as the designation of Natura 2000 sites, were duly taken into account.
The revision streamlines and updates the textual components and provides a consolidated presentation of the baseline situation, evaluation, development objectives and measures in text and maps. It also places particular emphasis on integrating the requirements of the Brandenburg Landscape Programme (LaPro), the second draft of the Berlin–Brandenburg Capital Region Spatial Development Plan (LEP HR), the current State Development Plan for Berlin-Brandenburg (LEP BB) and the revised Brandenburg Nature Conservation Implementation Act (BbgNatSchAG). A key focus was also placed on the development of the district’s ecological network. The methodological approach from the Brandenburg Landscape Programme for delineating ecological network areas was applied using current biotope mapping data and detailed forest datasets, and was supplemented with additional factors such as habitats of strictly protected species.
The Landscape Framework Plan has been fully digitised and made accessible to the public via a web-GIS application as part of the public participation process. Through this extensive digitalisation effort, the Oder-Spree District and FJP are ensuring broad, transparent access to environmental information and nature conservation issues for the general public.
