Staakower Heide masterplan

The Staakower Heide project site covers around a quarter of the overall area and is set on the former Lieberoser Heide military training grounds to the north of Cottbus. The first step was an extensive mapping of biotopes, with an evaluation of the habitat types in attachment I. Data was gathered for bats, breeding birds, amphibians and reptiles, together with an evaluation of their conservation status. The second step was an outlining of conservation goals and a planning of individual measures based on the evaluation carried out of habitat types and species. This strategy was agreed upon by all users concerned (farmers, forest owners) regarding its implementation.
