On 11 June 2017, the Moabit Freight Station Memorial was opened in Berlin-Moabit between Quitzowstraße and Ellen-Epstein-Straße. The site commemorates the deportation of more than 30,000 Jews from the former Moabit freight station to the extermination camps. The preliminary competition was won by the Berlin artists’ collective Raumlabor. The design provides for a grove of 24 pines and two information boards made of Corten steel. FUGMANN JANOTTA PARTNER was responsible for the project management to implement the winning design, which was financed from lottery funds.
