In the “Pankower Tor” urban planning and architectural workshop competition, the winning entry was announced on 13 August 2021. The design of the team NÖFER Architekten | CKSA | FJP | STADT+VERKEHR Ingenieurbüro Terfort | Buro Happold was able to prevail after 4 processing rounds.
The masterplan “Pankower Tor – A Lively Quarter with a Future” was convincing due to its diverse uses and different types of housing with the highest urban development quality. In addition, three new squares and three new parks create quality open spaces. The city square at the S+U station forms a new central meeting point that connects two previously separate parts of Pankow.
The jury’s verdict: “The design by Nöfer and CKSA Architekten und Team succeeds in creating both an identity of its own and a quality living atmosphere. The urban design forms the basis for the transformation of the former marshalling yard into a new urban quarter […].”
