The property owner plans to establish a European Energy Forum (EUREF) on the former GASAG site. The plan includes a new transport connection and a service center building with a maximum utilization of the area. The site is located in the middle of Schöneberg and is characterized by the gasometer as an industrial monument. Environmental surveys were coordinated, analyzed and evaluated, covering flora and fauna, air and noise, shading as well as polluted areas and bio climate. In order to minimize environmental impacts, particular measures were defined to reduce shading and wind swirls, to remediate polluted areas as well as to enhance the protection of species and biotopes. The zoning plan became legally valid in summer 2009.
